Leadership at St. Mark's
Congregation Council
St. Mark’s congregational leadership is carried out by the Congregational Council, a group of twelve elected members. Each year at the annual congregational meeting in December, four new council members are elected to serve three-year terms.
The council meets at 6:30pm on the fourth Monday of each month to tend to the business of the church. Meetings are open to St. Mark's members. Others may attend by requesting permission not less than five business days in advance from the congregation president or the senior pastor.
Quarterly congregational feedback sessions are generally held between services so the council can update the congregation on outstanding business and answer any questions.
Council members also lead and participate on teams that carry out St Mark's ministries that are aligned with the key vision and values of the St. Mark's mission statement: "We Invite all people to our church home to Celebrate God's many gifts. We are Nourished by Christ Jesus and led by the Holy Spirit. We Send enthusiastic servants into the world to proclaim the hope and joy of life in Christ."
The council is led by the four executive officers and the senior pastor. The council has five ministry teams: Invite, Send, Nourish, Celebrate and Stewardship. The resource committees of Property, Finance, Lutheran Men in Mission (LMM), and Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (WELCA) support the various ministries and teams in our congregation.
