Tony Smotherman is a classically trained, fingerstyle guitarist and composer whose original compositions are rooted in the Western classical tradition and inspired by musical styles from around the world. Drawing from Spanish flamenco, Celtic and folk music, jazz, and blues, as well as the innovative fingerstyle approaches of Chet Atkins and Merle Travis, Tony explores the unique character and language of each tradition through the guitar. His music is deeply influenced by the compositional ideas of Johann Sebastian Bach, and his career has included performances throughout South America and Europe. His work has also received recognition from Queen Elizabeth II.
